Hertfordshire has some of the most interesting chalk geology in the United Kingdom. The sites we oversee are shown on the map below and are categorised as either Regionally Important Geological and Geomorphological Sites (RIGS), Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) or Biological SSSIs with Earth Science Interest.
You can find brief information on all these sites using the map below. Fuller details are given on the RIGS and SSSI pages.

toggle complete categories on or off by checking/unchecking category headings
zoom in or out by using the +/- in the bottom left hand corner of the map
(if it's concealed by the list of sites then toggle the list off again)
